Typically, passengers departing from the EU can claim compensation for flight delays or cancellations within 2 or 3 years from the flight date. However, specific timeframes may vary between countries.

“Extraordinary circumstances” refer to events beyond the airline’s control, such as adverse weather conditions, security threats, airport staff strikes, or unexpected technical issues with the aircraft.

Compensation eligibility is based on the delay at arrival, not departure time. To qualify, your flight must reach its destination at least 3 hours later than the scheduled arrival time.

As per your entitlements for flight delays, the airline is obligated to provide complimentary food, refreshments, and accommodation if your flight is delayed beyond a specified duration. This assistance aims to assist in covering the extra expenses that could arise due to the delay.

Certainly, individuals who are not citizens of the EU can still seek compensation for flight delays. The European Commission regulation (EC) 261/2004 extends to all passengers who either departed from any airport within the EU or arrived in the EU via an air company registered in the European Union.
